I'm asking this here because I honestly have no idea where else to do so. I couldn't find any forums for Boss, Roland, or the GS-10 itself, so here I am.
I have a GS-10 effects unit that I got used from a guitar shop about... eh... 7 or 8 years ago. Hard to believe it's been that long. Anywho, it worked pretty good back when I played as a teenager. Now, as a senior in college, I'm trying to get into playing more seriously. I broke out the unit this weekend to see that the internal battery (the one that keeps the memory powered) was running dead... not surprising for a "computer" of such an age. I went ahead, took it apart, put a new battery in, and reset the unit's memory. I installed the software on my computer (Microsoft Windows 7, nothing too wild), and hooked it up. I'm having several problems, which are:
1. The unit does not register any input when I strum my guitar. Doesn't matter which input I use (mic, guitar), it doesn't show anything on input levels or make any sound.
2. The software for the computer originally seemed to work fine, but now, the computer says "no driver found" whenever I try to connect to the GS-10. I know I installed the driver, correct one and all.
I know this forum isn't for this particular Boss product, but any of you guys know how to fix this? I really, *really* don't want to drop $200+ on a new unit when I casually play. I also liked the fact that the unit has speakers built in, which are perfect for playing in an apartment (where amps are frowned upon).
