Default Some Observations on the GT-100

I had registered on this site a while ago but this is the first post I've made as I'm very happy with my Gt-100, so if it sounds like a Boss ad, too bad...( lol)

Used to have a Gt-10 a couple of years ago but I dumped it after hearing a few Modelling amps that sounded "Less Sterile & Digital"...I always said I'd go back to Roland/Boss if they would upgrade their COSM process & they did, so....I did! Great Sound sets right out of the box, but to get it to sound like Me ( I'm an R&B/ Jazz-Funk guy ) I had to move some Patches around & Edit the EQ's on em to get the tones right to my ears...then I thought about it &
said to myself that it would be good to hear what this preamp/ modeller would sound like thru a Full Range speaker setup utilizing No EQ other than the GT-100..?? Found what I was looking for at a company called Tech 21. ( the SansAmp people for you O.G.'s)...they make a 60 watt 12" Full Range enclosure called the Power Engine 60- essentially it's just a Powered speaker that's Ideal for these Modelling floor units like the Boss Gt/ Line 6 HD's/Vox, etc...The cabinet's got 1/4 & XLR in's & outs-it's small & lightweight.....got one of these things & I'm done! Now I'm hearing more of the GT-100 tone/EQ -My setup is the Bomb-Powerful & simple...

...after 3 weekends worth of shows I sold / gave away All of those pedals & my Rack effects units ( except my cry baby wah)...Boss got it Right with the Gt-100....I'm sold!

The Only constructive criticism I got for Boss/ Roland is this: It would be nice if Roland would make a Sound Bank/Patch set update for the GT-100 geared more toward the "R&B/Jazz-Funk/Fusion Players" - I don't need that many Distortion patches & those Pseudo-Synth patches are useless IMHO ( I use a Gr-20 for synth tones )...other than that I love the Box!

Cool that you're digging youir GT-100. I know there are others here who use Power Engines with good results. I have been using mine with my JC-120 and I'm very pleased.

Interesting observation on the patches. I too believe there are too many rock/metal/etc. kind of patches, but I suppose that's based on the market. As it is, I don't use any stock patches (rock or otherwise). I always start from scratch and build from there.

    Peace,
    Bruce,
