Fender itself has said it's like the guts of a mustang 3. I think this was a bad marketing move, as I have always associated the mustang amps with cheap. I have not tried the mustang amps, but I always had the perception they were on the crappy side given the super low price points. I don't have a frame of reference to say that this would give you the same sound as a mustang amp if you sent the mustang floor into a decent pa or a good tube amp. My guess would be that the mustang speakers are crappy enough that it isn't a fair comparison. But who knows. Could be a mustang amp would sound good to my ears in the same way the mustang floor does to me through a good tube or pa and likewise bad to you. But I doubt it

Found another potential deal breaker on mustang floor for those of you looking for advanced routing capabilities. The insert loop is at the beginning of the signal chain and cannot be moved. You may ask why even have a loop there, since it's about the same as just sending the output of your additional device into the input. The insert loop has a dedicated pedalboard button, so as best I can surmise, the loop allows you to bypass the additional device completely. The usefulness is in having access to the extra device without it adding noise or degrading the signal when the loop is not activated. This was a slight bummer for me. However, I really started having fun with the mustang floor when I realized I could put it in the amp loop of the digitech rp 1000. I always hated the amp sims on the rp 1000, but using the mustang mainly for its amp sims and having the good effects from the digitech in the appropriate places before and after the mustang amp sims and effects is a blast. Now I can get an extra Od and compression and take my pick on the effects. Still trying to figure out if I can get the digitech to do cabinet sim only, but this setup sounds good even with the mustang cabinet sim before the post-amp effects. Funny thing is, I got the mustang to try to simplify the situation. Still having fun with it though

Yeah but you CAN drive the virtual amp harder (more gain) and use COMP. In my opinion, that sounds even better.
