Thread: Main Differences Between Gt 10 and GT 100

Question Main Differences Between Gt 10 and GT 100

I have a gt 10 and wondering if i should get an update so i need specific differences...the accel pedal does multiple sounds right well i dont see the difference because the gt 10 can make either the two control pedals can be assigned multiple things up to 8 to be specific ... is it that the accel pedal can actually be assigned like 10 or 8 different efx because the gt 10 is just assigned to change any setting but only efx 1 and 2 and the rest settings chorus preamp (EVERYTHING THAT TURNS A LITTLE LIGHT ON BASICALLY ) ...and i heard all the pedals can be assigned to something but when you assign the accel and looper pedals to be ctrl 1 and 2 don't you lose the looper and the accel pedal..... i am just curious a friend of mine got one and well so far i don't hear a big difference but maybe because i haven't messed with it...

I wouldn't get bent on the control issue...it's in there. What I noticed most was the improved realism in the sound going into my tube amp's return,. The GT-100 preamps sound a lot less like pedals and more like preamps. The tone controls have more impact with slighter tweaks and the effects sound better in quality across the board. The interface is slick.

I didn't fully understand the original post. The CTL pedals on the GT-10 can be assigned to many things (not just things that turn a light on), as can the GT-100. As near as I can tell, you get essentially the same functionality from the GT-10 or GT-100 in Patch Mode and you have more options in Manual Mode with the GT-100. I think the main differences are in the sounds and UI.

I was initially very concerned that I would be losing functionality with one less control pedal, but after playing around with the GT-100 I'm finding that I have more flexibility than with the GT-10, particularly with the patch-based manual mode. +1 on the preamps sounding better. The layout is really a lot more intuitive. I do miss the "wheel" on the GT-10 for scrolling through patches and options, but I'll learn to deal with it.

I had that "wheel" on a Roland keyboard and replaced it after 10 yrs of use.... Not sure what that might add to anything!

Thanks for everyone's response basically the sounds and the user interface is more user friendly so i might get the update...... i would probably get a Gr-55 and combine it with either the gt 10 or gt 100...now that would be a pedal with infinite possibilities

Now that's a neat video! Thanks for sharing!

OK the clean twin had a stark difference. More grit in the GT-100 (?)

I think this highlights there is a difference in how input sensitivity is handled. There should be no reason why grit apparent in the clean twin setting, other than the unit is more sensitive and this in turn calls out the need for guitar to GT calibration. My clean twin sound of the GT 100 is actually clean, no grit, yet is fuller sounding and more organically rich than I recall on the GT-10.

Overall BOSS has subdued the over active midrange of the GT-10 when they gave us the GT-100 (IMO).
