GT-6 to PC/MAC?

Hi, is it possible to have my GT-6 hooking directly to a computer?

I want to explore this opportunity before I go out and buy an additional external sound card for my computer...

If you have a midi device adapter, you can use editing software to make patches and data backups (no audio on midi)
Otherwise you will need to interface with the GT-6 analog input and L/R outputs.
Only the GT-10 and GT-100 have USN audio interfaces built-in.

Midi device adapter... like for example the Line6 POD UX1?

That will work fine as an audio device adapter, but it doesn't do midi, just as long as you are aware of that.

The lack of a midi capability will not affect me playing guitar, won't it? I was also planning to begin using Guitar Rig / Amplitube...

The lack of midi won't affect your playing at all, looks like the L6 audio device comes with a nice software package.
If using guitar rig, midi can be handy to use the GT-6 as a midi controller for the foot switches to change patches and the EXP/CTL pedals and switch for live control over guitar rig parameters.

That's interesting. Can you point me to a specific audio device also doing MIDI?

Some of the Roland/Edirol range of USB & Firewire devices do both. I think M-Audio does too.
