Thread: Hey Ricig, lend me your ears please.

  1. Default Hey Ricig, lend me your ears please.

    Hi people

A little CW thought. When I was using the gt 10 I did not hear it, mind you tho I never did any recordings with the 10, just used it with a tube poweramp.

Ok to keep me entertained until I get my hands on the 100 I bought the br 80. I did a little recording with it via usb using stock presets and high gain. No post processing

Please tell me people if you can hear the CW cause if you do, I must be going deaf ;o) And you Ricig listen your a$$ off and tell me if you hear it.

    Thanks

Hey gummy these are my thoughts also, if this is the dreaded CW then I'm one of those who like that sound. Thanks for checking it out.

1:15 and 1:23, maybe others, but I'm one of those that likes it, so I'm not going to complain. Good work. -Rod-

Sounds good with my iPhone app! Love the tune

Are the drums from the BR80?

If yes they are better than the one in my Micro BR

    Thanks guys

Nope the drums are EZ drummer. I recorded with garageband and used the br as an audio interface. I was planning to use it for recordings but I don't like to flip back and forth through pages so I just used garageband.

Have you used the included Sonar/Cakewalk LE program that came bundled with the BR? I have been thinking of picking up either a BR 80 or BR 800 because I like the format more than my ZOOM. Comments on the BR?

Hi Lasky, nice to see you again.

No I haven't used sonar since it is strictly pc based and I'm using a mac. But essentially all these daws are basically the same in the core principles so sonar or garageband it's all good with the br's.

The reason I didn't go for the 800 was that there is a wonderful drum editor available. But you have to connect to a computer to use it and that kinda defeats the purpose of a standalone recorder for me.

When I begun speculating recording again I was hell bent on a standalone recorder since a couple of years ago my computer got stolen and all my music about 24 tracks in various stages was in there. And I had no back up. Therefore computers were evil and I wanted a standalone unit.

I was very intrigued by the 800 but what killed it for me was the screen and the size of the unit. If I was going to be tied to a computer I didn't need the 800's bell and whistles. I have the EZ drummer so in the end I just needed to transfer my guitar into the computer and that's it.

But the 80 has proven to be so much more than just that. Eband is brilliant I had no idea how badly I suck at guitar until I tried that one ;o) The live rec is amazing too, the two condenser mic's are very good for recording acoustics, I haven't tried the vocal tools yet but I have no doub't that they are up to the job as the rest of this unit is. It's size allows me to take it anywhere and record/practice or just play along at anytime.

I love it and it's probably the most fun and at the same time the most useful guitar related gadget I've bought in years. Can't recommend it enough. But I have no doubt that the 800 is about ten times better but since I have to use the computer, well, I have no need for all the extra bells and whistles.

Sorry for the long rant but I hope this helps in some way. If you need more info just ask.

What i like about the BR-80 for recording the odd session is that you can use the stereo built-in mics, and use the line-in from the desk at the same time (mixed to 2 tracks).

You can put your favourite tracks in there and play along to them, with a set of phones and the BR-80 in your pocket.

It can be USB connected to a laptop and used as an Audio interface.

I honestly hear only a bit of CW on one particular chord you play; but I'm not sure how to point out that oneout to you as it goes by rather quickly. I do hear quite a bit of fizz though...more like a wash of white noise in the presence range. But seriously, it's such a good little piece I shouldn't criticize any of it! Like others have already said, even if some CW is there, it sounds good!

Did you use the MS High Gain and/or the Recto Vintage preamp for the rhythms?
