Thread: Best way to connect GTPro

  1. Default Best way to connect GTPro

HI, what is the best way to connect my GTpro to my amplifier? I want to mainly use my amp's preamp to get my basic sound and run the GTpro into the effects loop for things like chorus and delay. But it would be nice to be able to run some distortion or overdrive in through the front end as well. Is there any way to do both? Run the clean effects through the loop and the dirt through the front end, I guess it all comes down to being able to direct them to two different outputs on the Gtpro. Have looked in the manual but it hasnt been much help and its doing my head in, can anyone help?

Ok, figured out how to get into the old posts and discovered the 4C method. Still dont understand how to route the effects to where they need to be???

The 4CM is definitely what you need, but I have never worked with it.

If it is of any help: why do you really need external effects? I use my GT Pro for everything! To get the basic sounds and to get all effects I need. This makes it very easy to control as well.

The only thing I have thought of at some point is an external tube preamp, but the "possible better sound" doesn't weigh up to the juggling with cables (and possible signal loss).

I'm sorry I wasn't able to help you better.

Guess I'm just another guitarist on the eternal quest for that "perfect sound". The main reason I want to do this is I love the sound of my Engl Screamer 50 and while the preamp in the GTpro is terrific, in my opinion it is still not quite as good as a real tube amp, especially when it comes to the reponse/feel at the pick.
