Thread: Ideas on emulating the EH "Freeze Sound" effect

  1. Lightbulb Ideas on emulating the EH "Freeze Sound" effect

I've experimented with the David Gilmour 'Sound on sound' effect as seen here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQy4CrhY1mc

And its a lot of fun, and great for working on modes and chord tones
BUT i've just discovered this pedal:

Which seems to be way easier to use.

With the sound on sound patch, i can't change how long the delayed sound lasts for. To combat this, i created an assign to turn off the delayed feedback momentarily (by stepping on ctrl1). This works,....but takes a lot of fancy footwork.

I'm trying to visualise how the freeze sound might work on the GT-10, where i can just play a note, hold down a crtl pedal, and my chord stays in the background til i take my foot off...any ideas?

    Cheers marty

ps: some amazing EH uses in this vid. The POG2 looks great too

One idea would be to use the looper? although you'll hear the restart of the loop.

of couse a bit of tap dancing but once engaged, its one stomp to clear the loop, one to make a new loop (one start and one finish)

Tried that but it doesnt sound that great. Like the video says, you need to be able to 'smooth out' the repeating sound...but i dont know what will do that!

    Keep the ideas coming though
