  1. Thanks Ian. I am onto it now. Hooked it up to my practise amp (Marshall 65W valve state) and got it working as you said. It certainly gives a different sound to what it was before so I will need to muck around with my amp settings I suppose, although I wont get a true indication of what it sounds like until I get to my gig amp in Sydney. I also found that the patches I d/l from Glenn Delaunes site sound a lot better now (without the amp pre amp). Thanks for your help. Shane

No issues being a newbie mate we all were once. The GTs are extremely daunting and difficult to grasp at first. One thing that fools everyone is the amp sims, they are not just sims, the GT is actually a pre amp so with your current set up what you have is Guitar > GT Pre-amp> amp pre-amp> amp power amp so you are in essence pre-amplifying the guitar signal twice.

The easiest set up would be Guitar > GT 10 > amp fx return as this will bypass the pre-amp in your guitar amp allowing you to use the GT amp sims without overdriving your signal.
If you decide later you want to use your amp then adding an extra 2 cables GT10 FX send > amp guitar input and amp fx send> GT 10 fx return would allow you to switch between the GT amp sims and your own guitar amp simply by turning the send return loop on and the amp sims off .
dont worry about asking loads of questions ask as many as you like especially if your not sure about something,
    regards
    Ian
