I think Boss missed a huge opportunity with the Pro; with one or two additional design points, I think they could've leveraged the Pro into a new application: recording studio effects processor.
First, they should've designed the software so that it would also work with software like Cakewalk Sonar, Cubase, Pro Tools, etc. This would've meant making it work with protocols like DXi or VST, with the result that the Pro's effects would've been fully accessible within the software and fully automatable.
Second, going after this market would've probably required the Pro to be something more than 24-bit / 44.1kHz. At least, that's what it seems is required to even be considered, however, I don't think that'd be a requirement for amateurs like me.
Throw in firewire connectivity, and the Pro would've been a very versatile beast.
I make these suggestions not because I think Boss could or would address these in the Pro now, but because I think that by the time the Pro's successor is being planned, these design points may be mandatory....
