Any chances for a Linux version of the software in the near future? My old mac has pretty useless audio hardware and no midi, and windows is just beyond my patience.
I noticed someone else in the forum asked about Linux support for the GT-Pro also.
I'm interested in possibly writing Linux software for the unit myself if nobody has done
so yet.
If anyone reading this is aware of any existing efforts underway, please let me know
via email at "mharris at mharris dot ca" so that we can perhaps combine efforts.

3. Librarian -- most important tip of all: Use it! Makes it very trivial to backup your pro, so get into the regular habit of doing a read all and then a save or export. The resulting files are less than 300K, so there's no reason not to do frequent back-ups.
Thanks a lot for your suggestions!
However...I still have a question... I've just done an export as described above. Say my GT Pro got stolen, damaged or whatsoever... Is it possible to load the exported file back and have my exact setup as I have at present? I ask this because a 300kB file sounds as not a lot of data to store everything.
Further I would like to add another tip...
I'm using a smart phone (HTC Tytn II) and I found that if I connect my GT Pro while the smart phone is connected and synchronizing the PC does find the GT Pro and it will work at first, but after a while it will start experiencing problems. Perhaps I'm the only one with this issue, but if you do find issues try disconnecting your phone/PDA.

The 300 kb file will be just the 200 user patches, one thing the Boss GTpro editor does not seem to do is save the Global, system, and custom Od, Wah, preamps.
To make a complete backup you need to to a 'Bulk Dump' as in page 75 of the user manual, with some midi software which can receive .syx data.
With this complete system dump, your GT-Pro's personality and patches are saved, and can be reloaded into another GT-Pro, giving you exactly the same cloned setup.

As far as only back-up is concered, I do it right out of the Editor and not using the Librarian.
EDitor: File - Export SMF - System+Patch
But honestly I am not really sure what exactly is saved by this functions. Should be the same like doing to through the Librarian. I think in the librian I can select the patches to save, while via the editor all user patches are stored.
