View Full Version : HC Joy
Hi I just have to tell you how amazing I think the HC is, I recieved it four days ago and I am absolutely stunned by it, I posted a review here
http://www.bossgtcentral.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=9456
But I though that as most people don't look over there I would post a link to it here, I just want people to realise just how fantastic this thing is, honestly if a good tone is what you are after then the GT8 HC Loop is the very best solution, once you have used it, you won't be able to use the GT8 without it ever again.

HC = Harmonic Converger
It's in a BossGTCentral forum: Radley's Corner

Thanks
Is this some kind of LoFi filter or 8-Bit Glitch Box or anything that decreases the bit rate of the sound?
Ok. I have heard to the demos and I made up my mind about how approximately this box modifies the sound. Then I performed some testing in order to confirm what I suspected.
Here is what it is:
Unfortunately only those of you who own any kind of LoFi signal processor can make use of my discovery with out investing in HC.
I plugged my guitar Fender strat in to my GT-Pro and strait in to my VS-1680 which is equipped with two effect boards featuring quite impressive LoFi filters. After a little tweaking on the LoFi processor on the basis of my favorite patches I could reproduce the sounds that I heard on the demo. A little bit more tweaking and I could hear quite amazing sound actually.
So test some of your patches with your LoFi processor and report here please.

Hi Talius,
So, maybe a dedicated LowFi filter, like the Everman, could be more versatile than the HC?

Hi pingfloid
Thaks for the links :-)
Hmm well.
Not a bad sound but by far not as good as the sound produced by HC.
What is interesting here is that I could fully reproduce the sound of HC using my LoFi. The LoFi processors that I have are combined with some kind of 3 band notch filters and a real time resonance filter which gives me countless combinations for tweaking. I can easily get the typical HC out-phased sound which adds the nice tubular bottom and kills all unnecessary highs in the sound. In addition to this now I have more confidence playing with the trebles and presence of my GT-Pro as it only adds more punch to the sound with out producing fizz and nasty noisy highs.

It may be worth noting that the HC is a passive device, ulike the everman unit.
