View Full Version : Different display colors?

What is the display color on a GT-PRO? Every pic I find seems to have yet another color..

Here's a quick comparison of a press pic with two user pics from these forums:
http://www.myedvyed.net/gtpro.jpg

So.. what is this? A difference in the contrast setting? A difference between the prototype and newer editions? See, I understand press pics aren't always representative of the end result.. but the user pics are still different from each other. Does it depend on the viewing angle? The region it's distributed in? (Japanese promo pics are yellow instead of green: http://www.roland.co.jp/products/boss/image/GT-PRO/GT-PRO_f.jpg ) Or am I just seeing things?

I can't find anything in the manual other than a contrast setting.. :?

Yep, that's why this was one of the first things I pointed out when I got mine (see the "I've gone Pro" thread.

Mine is the yellow/orange color; I would've much preferred green or even better, blue.

I'm guessing at least everybody else here in the US also got the yellow/orange, and maybe all units worldwide are like that.

Doesn't the 8 use the green-colored LCD? Perhaps pre-production units used the same color?

Yea mine is the yellow orange too. When it is turned off, it is the color in that blue with orange writing picture

Mine is the orange as well. I know because it is always staring at me, mocking and taunting.

Thanks for the replies!

So I'm guessing it will be yellow/orange for me as well when I get it. Call me weird, but I actually like the orange version best :P Not that it really matters that much.. I just hope it arrives soon :x

Hi Myedvyed. Today I've received mine from Thomann (Germany).

It's Orange/Yellow. No problem to be seen in the dark or direct light conditions.

Cheers,

Manuel

I did order it the 21st July, but they did not charge my account untill the end of august.

Time was passing very very slowly while waiting, but be patient: it's worth to wait! 8)

Manuel

I really do hope its worth the wait, ive waited about a month now,not that my Boss VF-1 doesnt do a good job,i just think that the GTpro would be more of an optimal choice with all the connectivity and that its not in the same way algoritm based as the VF-1 which can be a slight bit limiting at times.

Have fun !

Hi Myedvyed, Evilution, Fubb,

Have you already received it? I've got homework for GT-Pro users, but I'm waiting for you before I post it. It's a hard assignment, so be prepared.

The store owner said it will arrive on a Wednesday, because Boss/Roland stuff always does apparently, so hopefully tomorrow.. but I'm not counting on it :(

hey Myedvyed, congratulations.

welcome to the "pro-users"!

Happy exploring! 8)

How do you control the unit? MIDI-Board?

Myedvyed

Thanks :P

Well, I'm still tweaking it manually. I'm going to try USB + the editor later today, and I'll use a MIDI board for on stage use :)

Though my rack is very heavy, hard to transport it up and down the stairs.. even with two persons holding it :? And to think it's not finished yet.. So I dunno how much of the stage it's going to see!

Which units do you have in your rack?
Perhaps the gt-pro will replace some of them...

I have to cecommend the FCB1010 to you!

Myedvyed

I already have the FCB1010, it rules 8)

It can even send notes to my Roland GR-20 guitarsynth, so I can play violin etc. with my feet while playing guitar :D

The only thing the GT-PRO replaces is the SansAmp I borrowed from a friend, but I already ordered a Peavey Kosmos to go in that slot.. and I'm going to add a drawer with some pedals I like, to go through the GT-PRO's FX loops. The power conditioner, power amp and wireless systems can't be removed unfortunately.. the GT-PRO can do a lot of stuff, but not that :P
