Greetings all,
Im looking for some advise on weather to spend my hard earned $$ on a GT-Pro or look elsewhere for the ideal effect unit. Currently Im using a GP-16 and a few stomp items such as teh Boss HM1 and a Ibanez Tube Screamer, Phase 90. I guess Im looking for the Holy Grail of guitar processor/preamps. I know the TC Gforce is a descent product but have heard some complaints about it also. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Duane :D

Hi Faust,
IMHO there is not a single FX unit that can give you 100% of everything. (I can't understand people that give a 10 at harmony-central) I've owned and sold a lot of gear but I've never found the nirvana in a single one.
The TC has superb FX but weak preamp for distortion.
The GT8/GTPro has superb sims, very good FX and good preamp.
The JMP-1 is a superb preamp with no FX and a useless sim.
The Roland VG8 has incredible guitar sims, but weak amp/speaker sims compared with the GT.
My personal choice is:
- Marshall JMP1 Preamp (distortion sounds).
- Roland VG-8 (clean & not of this world sounds).
- Boss GT-Pro (sims & FX)
- Eventide H3000-D/SE (reverb, pitch & delay)
Good luck in your search 8)
Manuel

I believe the GT-Pro is a perfect starting in the search of the Holy Grail .
If in the future you're not happy with the distorted sounds you can always add a JMP-1 or other pre-amp, but it will always be a good base for FX and sims.

Hey manuel,
Thanks for the reply maybe I will just start my quest and order it. I have checked at all the local music places here in Miami. Nobody has the unit (very strange) to play or purchase. Been to Sam Ash and 2 Guitar Center Locations. Guess if I want it .... its going to have to be mail order. Who is the Manufacture of the JMP 1 you spoke of?? Also, have you found the editing software usefull that comes with the GT-Pro?
Thanks for all your info buddy!!

Yea if you need amp sims/preamps in addition to effects then the GT-Pro is a good choice for you. Right now the supply of the GT-Pro's seem to be short in most stores, but if they have any GT-8's in stock you can play around on that and see if you like it since the 2 units are identical. Also the maker of the JMP-1 is Marshall

I totally agree. I've been using the Roland VG-88 since they came out. For clean, acoustic and strange sounds it is an incredible unit. I had been using a Line 6 AX2 212 with my vg88 for the heavier sounds. It was a nightmare setup - I assure you. Now that the GT-Pro cam out, I switched to a rack setup along with the VG-88. I think the amp models are great from the GT-Pro. I use the VG-88 for the "pretty" sounds and as a controller for the GT-Pro. Although with the amount of effects and flexibility of the GT-Pro, some pretty strange sounds can be obtained as well.
