Just wanted everyone to know that I've received my FC-200 and after spending an hour or two I was able to work myself through a couple operations. (not without rereading a couple pages a hundred times over)

I've been able to switch channels via the footswitch(in the order on gt-pro) set the tuner globally to the "ctrl" function and even posted a channel to a different bank location via midi mapping. :)

After messing with it I feel like I'm no where close to being able to do what it is capable of.
Does anyone have any tips on using the FC-200 with your Gt-Pro?
Any setups that you guys have that you particuarly like?

I think ideally I would like to use it where the number pedals 1-5 are assigned to change patch channels and the numbers 5-10 would show up the effects used on that particular patch.

(I.E selecting Number 1 would change to a distortion patch with effects flanger/delay/comp engaged and the 5 number pedal would turn on/off flanger/ 6 would turn on/off delay/ 7 would turn on/off comp and so forth.)

If anyone could offer some advice to getting the fc-200/gt-pro to coraporate with my demands I'd be exstatic.
Thanks for helping!!!

I think the more typical usage -- and it applies to the 8 as well -- is to setup the CTL pedal to toggle manual on/off; when it's off, then you use the bank and number pedals to select a patch, when it's on, you have control over the individual effects (and the ability to step up and down thru patches within the same bank using the bank pedals).

Don't have time to type more than that; just wanted to give you a quick overview to get you started.

That actually makes sense.
Thanks.
Here's the deal though.
Once I set the GT-PRO ctrl function to "manual" doesn't the fc-200 have to be in CC mode to turn on/off individual effects?
Is there a way that I can program the fc-200 to switch to CC Mode when the ctrl is on and back to Patch Mode once it is off.
Any more help would be appreciated guys!!!
Thanks

I'm at work so I'm not 100% on this but if you switch to manual mode the FC-200 goes into CC mode. I am assuming you have midi cables connected from FC-200 out to PRO's in & PRO's out to FC-200's in. I thought I would mention that in case you didn't already have it set up that way.

I'm not sure if that is what you were asking?

I think you're thinking about this too hard: Boss really did improve the FC-200 handling, to such an extent that it just works.....

As rcknrllmn sez, you basically want to have two MIDI cables between the -200 and the Pro. Then you tell the Pro you have a -200 (check the manul for how to do it.)

Next, FORGET THE MODE BUTTON on the -200. Pretend that stoopid example of brain-dead engineering doesn't exist! You don't need it with the Pro (at least not with the 2-cable config).

When I power up, my 200 is in bank-select mode, I think. I can use the up/down to select banks and the number pedals to specify the patch within the bank. I then hit CTL, configuring the Pro for Manual mode (you'll see that in the display). The -200 does change to CC mode, but it's all done automatically so don't sweat it. Now the pedals control various fx (my setup is different from the default, just to suit my needs), but bank up/down allow you to 'scroll' thru the patches within the current bank (unless you reconfigure those pedals).

I got all this simply by telling the Pro I have a -200. It really is that simple -- stop reading, stop thinking, and start rockin'!

Let me know if you help with configuring the Pro for your -200....

AH HAH!
So I need two midi cables???!!!
I currently just have one going from the in of the pro to the out of the fc-200.
It's transmitting fine, but it does not go to cc mode when I go into manual mode by selecting ctrl.
I have to manually select that by pressing the mode button on the fc-200.
So you are saying that if I get another midi to connect my problems will be solved????
What else is going to change when I get another midi cable??!!!
I'm excited!!!
:)
Thanks for all the help . You guys are great!!

Yes they should be.

That allows them to talk to each other. Pro knows what the FC-200 is doing & FC-200 knows what the PRO is doing simultaneously.

Happy toe tappin!

Great!
Sounds simple enough.
Does anyone make a 25ft + Dual midi pedal or am I going to just need to buy two seperate cables??!
Thanks!

I haven't come across any. I just use 2. But eventually I will end up getting one of these to clean things up & should handle the job. A bit more expensive though.
