View Full Version : Using GT-8 Patches...

Just wanted to let everyone know that thanks to some advice from Mr. Sleepy, I've had some early success sending one of the community patches that was created on an 8 over to my Pro.

It involves some simple hex-editing of the syx file from the 8, which is described here for any of my fellow propeller-heads; for the rest, perhaps this means we'll see some sorta software -- perhaps the GT-8 Editor -- allow patches to be sent to either device. However, that's up to Mr. Sleepy to decide whether it's possible and whether/when to add it: I'm not trying to speak for him.

Look for my post in this thread:

Update: Doesn't always work. Some patches do, some don't (perhaps because of the differences in the Assign section....)

And if you're at all squeamish about all the worst case scenarios, don't try this at home -- hopefully, only us stoopidly impatient types will be doing hex-edits and then only for a little while....

Hi Aerial

Does that GT Pro have the same initial user patches as the GT8

ie do you have Clean + DD + Ch at loc u1-4

If so...
Can you use the editor is sysex mode to upload and save a patch, preferably one that has a identical counterpart on the GT8..
If you can do that..which I think you have done previously I will be able to use that patch as a basis for conversions...in both directions and to make the editor able to upload patches from the GT Pro
If the above is possible ..I will PM you my email

Yeah, (although it might be a superset since the Pro has 10 patches per bank.....)

Previously, I did use your Editor to capture a full system dump, but I understand what you're after: A .syx of a single preset patch that both the Pro and the 8 have.

Let me know how to get in touch with you.
