Do any of you new Pro owners have a GT-6? I'd like to know whether or not the sounds are night and day difference or are they pretty much the same? I've heard some good stuff about the 8 but no one really stepped up saying "wow, what a difference!"

AdReNaChRoNe,

Why don't you search (or ask) over in the 8 forum? Haven't looked at it scientifically, but it seems like there's guys who ditched their 6 as soon as they could get an 8, and there are others that still haven't moved up.

Yeah but I was hoping for a direct comparison between the Pro and the 6. There are a few in the 8 forum but I was looking for one specifically.

I have the 6 and 8. 8 is better than 6, not only soundwise, but also the amazing functions it offers. I think pro is great, esp when u have some racks wanna add on its loops. But 8 is an all in one gear, bring it to the stage u have nothing to worry...

Hey thanks for the feedback! Maybe i'll get an 8 instead of the pro. I recently read a comparison between the 8 and the pro and the 8 came out on top. I'm not so concerned with the features so much as the tones.

Yes, it is quite hard to believe the expensive pro isn't better that the 8. With the $ u spend on pro, u can get two 8! Ha, if Boss wanna get more money from us, he should release the GT 16 instead of the GT-Pro :D ...

Um, doesn't it stand to reason that Roland / Boss wouldn't design the Pro to be inferior, and that if ONE person's anecdotal experience is actually accurate, that Roland / Boss would do something about it?

I think that the idea of Boss "standing to reason" is idealistic at best. Case and point, no bypass switch on any models well after we have been bitchin for quite some time. Either way, even you said that you had noticed a slightly better tone on the 8 recording vs the pro recording in the samples posted. You did mention that it was hardly noticeable but if my main goal is searching for tone, then every little bit counts. I own a 6 right now and it does well for what it is. I would expect that when i drop $1,000.00 on a unit it should kick my 6 in the junk. However, all i've heard has been on this forum so i'm sure you can appreciate that there isn't much info to base an opinion on. I think that for my part, the only advantage I can see right now on going with the Pro as opposed to the 8 is that i would no longer have to bend down. Sekator mentioned the BBE Sonic Maximizer and I plan on looking into that. If it enhances my tone to where I am happy, then i won't bother with the 8 nor the pro until further info has been posted and more samples are available.

Since it seems that no one here who has a PRO had the 6 to give you an honest comparison, my suggestion to you is go to a store where you can audition them for yourself & form your own opinion. Because everyones opinion is subjective & what one may like, another may not. There just are not the #'s buying the PRO compared to the 8 for there to be droves of information.

I agree entirely. JUst a little time consuming. But you are right, no matter how much info there would be my ear is different to everyone else's and as such only by auditioning will I be able to her for myself and formulate an educated opinion. This doesn't discredit any of the valuable info you guys have posted however ;)
