I just wanted to give everyone an update of my use of the Behringer FCB1010 with the GT-Pro. I had originally intended to use strictly MIDI instructions from the FCB1010 to control the GT-Pro. What I quickly found out is that the FCB1010 doesn't send "momentary" MIDI CC instructions via a pedal press.

What I have since done is make me a CTL cable consitiing of a 4-conductor cable cable tied to my MIDI cable. At each end of my new CTL cable, I placed two mono 1/4" phono plugs. This, essentially, allows me to have one cable run from the GT-Pro to the FCB1010.

At the FCB1010 end, I plug each 1/4" Phono plug into each relay switch jack on the back of the FCB1010 along with the MIDI cable into the MIDI OUT/THRU Outlet. At the GT-Pro, I plug the MIDI cable into the MIDI IN jack, and the two 1/4" Phono Plugs into the CTL1/2 and CTL3/4 jacks.

Why did I use CTL 1 and CTL 3, you may ask? Well, I read somehere that the FCB1010 relay jacks do not like to share the common ground. I did not feel like experimenting with this to see if it was true. SO since I had the luxury with the GT-Pro of the two separate CTL jacks, I ran two separate CTL lines.

I programmed my FCB1010 so that pedals 1-4, 6-9 switch to corresponding patch numbers on my GT-Pro. Pedal 5 is setup to activate the Relay Switch #1 in momentary mode (hooked up to CTL1/2 input of GT-Pro). Pedal 10 is setup to activate the Relay Switch #2 in momentary mode (hooked up to CTL 3/4 input of the GT-Pro).

The right Expression pedal of the FCB1010 is set to CC#7 on all patches (controls volume on GT-Pro). The left Expression Pedal of the FCB1010 is set to CC#1 on all patches and is set as Assignable on the GT-Pro to be set by the Assigns on each patch for wah, parameter control, etc.

Up next, I plan on doing the Phantom Power mod to the FCB1010 so that I can power the FCB1010 through the MIDI cable as found on the FCB1010 Yahoo User Group. I will create an interface of jacks at the front of my rack consisting of a MIDI jack and 2 1/4" phono jacks. That way I only have to hook up my cables to the front of the rack where it is easier to access.

I'll be posting my FCB1010 SYX file and an overview of what I have done to the FCB1010 Yahoo User group once I get everything done.

So, at the risk of being the dopey Irish lad on the forum, I'll pop the question :

What advantage does having momentary control have? What can you achieve with it?

Having the momentary type switch allows me to use the GT-Pro in both toggle and normal modes for the assign. If I have latching type (which is essentially what the MIDI setup is) I can only use Normal setiings to control the assigns.

The one area I can see where this helps me is for Tap Tempo.

Or to state, if you have a momentary switch pedal, you can so both momentary and latching type settings via the GT-Pro. If you have a latching type pedal, you can only use latch type settings.
