View Full Version : What do u demand from the GT-Pro?
1.Quadruple COSM wth SINGLE, DUAL MONO(L/R), TRIPLE MONO(L/R), QUADRUPLE MONO(L/R), DYNAMIC(With 2 set of effect chains u can selected from)
2.Dual solo mode
3.26 effects can be used at the same time
4.Stereo effect loop
5.Dual expression pedals and more than 10 control pedals
6.400 presets and 280 user patches
7.4 FX blocks
8.Amp Control jack for switching 2 external guitar amp channels
9.88 effects categories
10.Price $798 and it is out now.
Buy yourself two GT-8 and u will get it. Forget the GT-Pro which will not provide you the above powerful spec but costs u more than $800... (remember the cost of the extra foot controller?) I suggest the Boss man should get the GT-Pro back to the factory and re-design it again, otherwise, pls lower the price to $400 (as no foot controller provided)

$559 before tax. So $642.85 approx tax in.
I get a bit better of a price seeing as how I buy ALL MY GEAR at the same shop "Steves" from the same guy.
But, actually, come to think of it, I think that is the price before my small break.
If not it was around $580 MAX then tax. And I know, it is crazy. I told him to double check because that was a great price seeing as how the 6 is not much less and he confirmed it to be correct.
I have a buyer for my 6 at $400. So I am VERY VERY CLOSE ..
Ask for Dan @ Steves.

What do I require?
ZERO headaches.
All the tones and flexibilty of my stage rig with zero hassles.
Excellent portability.

1. That they use the lights on the fx buttons when the tuner is engaged (as they did on the GX-700). Trivial, but impressively clever!
2. That it features the same level of integration as the GX-700 had for the FC-200: namely, the SE (sysex) mode so that the -200's pedals can control the individual fx.
After that, the basic features are as on the -8, so I don't have specific "requirements" there.....
The first post in this thread seemed pretty distraught over the "value proposition" of the Pro vs. the 8 -- does the original poster still think that? I have to admit that it's crossed my mind many times to "just" get the -8. Heck, I could unload the FC-200 and probly pay for 1/3rd or even 1/2 of the -8, I suppose.
But I won't. As pricey as the additional features effectively are, the unit's price is still "affordable" -- at least 'til my wife finds out 8O -- and I just can't stand the basic design of the floormount things. That's why I've stuck with the GX-700 all these years.[/list]

Ditto what aerial7 said, & agree 100%.
I also was hoping to have the capability of speaker simulation out of the xlr outputs, & no speaker simulation out of the 1/4" outputs at the same time., although I think it will be unlikely it will.
Also am looking forward to improved models of amp's & FX, in rackmount format, since I've stuck with my GX-700 for so long.

One other thing, that the fx loops be stereo. I know, I know, I've seen the pics, but they could be TRS, right? I shall cling to that hope until the day I try it for myself -- I don't care what anyone says!

Oh yeah, just remembered. The GX-700 couldn't handle a hot line level signal in the return of the FX loop, it would make noise but my GP-100 was able to handle it. The GP-100 had two FX loops. If you wanted a stereo return you would just use one send & two of the returns, maybe it will be the same on the GT-Pro. I'd rather have the stereo returns for each return though.

Now that the manual is out, it seems you've gotten your wish: The main out and sub-out each have their own Output Select, so unless I'm mistaken you're covered....

I'm not so sure? It looks like you have to select LINE/PHONES on both MAIN & SUB outputs at the same time to be able to use the speaker sim's. I guess that is why I'm looking into getting a full range system to monitor my guitar sound.
Hi aerial7, I was the one who posted the 1st post here
To be frank, since I've got the GT-8 and having a nice time with the GT community here, I have felt no distraction at all! :D Thanks u guys!
In fact, GT-Pro is the one I should have after, since I got some many racks and preamps, a flexible looping function that the Pro provided is all I am longing for (you know, I've got a good midi controller, too, I therefore have no excuse to reject Pro)! But I know I have been spending too much time on gear, and it'd would better for me to practise guitar more, the last but not the least, my wife is watching me 8O :x ...
8 alone is good enough for me to spend a year to play with, I remembered once I've got my GT-6, all the old gear were left aside (it so happened when I bought the GR-20) and I have lesser time to spend on the songs I should dig into...
Still wanna know more about the Pro, pls write us more, sometimes my wife is very busy with her work.

Nah, you're gonna be okay -- they're separate.
p.17, right-hand column describes setting Output Select for Main Out.
p.18, left-hand column describes setting Output Select for Sub Out.

aerial7 I hope your right.
I was drawing my interpretation from the bottom left of page 18
in the box
"*The speaker simulator (p. 28 ) is enabled only when Main
Output select/Sub Output Select is set to LINE/
PHONES."
being that you have to have them both set the same.
Maybe it means either/or? :?

I was right, they are separate -- Main and Sub each have their own Output Select. The statement about cab sim only being active applies to each of them separately. (I.e, you want cab sim on the Sub, you gotta choose Line/PA).
