Hi,

we just completed our live program with URANUS, a 18-minute tour-de-force through the space music of the 70s.
Is is somewhat hard to distinguish between GT 10 and the synths - let's just say that 50% of what you hear is GT 10. You can spot it by the occasional digital glitches when I was playing not clean enough :?

Among others, it showcases the "Gates of Kiev" brass simulation patch I uploaded into the patch eXchange (at about 60% into the tune).
It is just a session, one take, no overdubs. Raw material, so to speak.
You find it here:

--> click the player bar beneath "URANUS"

Have fun,
Alex

ikonoklast - i am deeply humbled by your music! Everything about it just says pro-musician...the talent, the creativity, the performance and the production. I've never heard anything remotely as unique as your compositions. Why aren't you a houselhold name? ;)

This is another testament of how in the hands of a true craftsman, the GT can be harnessed to it's potential. :icon_exclaim:

Thanks for the kind words. It sure is nice to hear that our music appeals to at least some people ...

Well, these are the more "harmonic" parts of our concert, there's also some dark stuff, some very dark stuff and almost purely experimental pieces, too. The funniest one is where we connect our synths to a horoscope program which generates MIDI data out of the planet's movements for a given timeframe ... hehe, truly weird stuff.

I never had so much fun making music. This band was "out of order" for 30 years! We met again at the 50th birthday of one of our common friends and jammed at the party. It was as if we had last reharsed a week ago - like a time capsule surfacing in the future. Some weeks later we decided to re-form the band.

All this would not have been possible without the GT 10. Man, I *love* this machine. It enables me to be on par with the keyboarder - I always wanted to play synth, but with a guitar as interface. Now I can do it, and even without a dedicated guitar synth with midi/hex pickup. And the GT 10 has more to offer than most entry level synths. The ASSIGNs modulation matrix is what I was always looking for - this is heavy stuff. It could use some additional envelope generators, but hey - for 450 Euro, this *is* a bargain.

Nevertheless, I plan to get a Teratec AXXON MK II and a laptop with AAS String Studio. Then, all hell breaks loose :icon_razz:. The String Studio is the most amazing synth I ever played in my life, and I can't wait for having such a system to play with. Just look at the screenshot - this would be a real beauty if it were built in hardware:

Thanks as well ...

VG 99 would have been an option, yes. There is a long story behind that, originating with the theft of my guitars out of a museum where we played. I am still sueing the museum - this idiocy goes on for more than 2 years now.
Anyway, with the money from the insurance I could have bought a new guitar AND a vg 99, sure ...

The GT 10 was never meant to be my "first weapon of choice". It was meant to provide a fallback when the system I described in my last post would fail (after all, computers on stage *are* somewhat risky).

With the law suit being delayed and delayed and delayed I *had* to buy something to be able to play the first concert with my new band. So I chose to buy the "fallback solution" first.

Luckily it turned out to be far better than I expected, and as long as I am still unable to buy my dream system, I'll be happily working with the GT 10.

Cheers,
Alex
