here's a looong thread ... http://bossgtcentral.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8131&highlight=Mac+OSX+patch+exchange+solution .... read the whole thing, because info gets added as the thread goes on ...

For me this is what I can do with my mac and my GT8.
-upload syx from the internet to my gt8 using the "sysex librarian"
-create a new patch from scratch (init. patch) in real time using the "GTPro editor" with the modified xml script.
-upload patches from my gt8 and organize and archive them using the "GT librarian" that comes bundled with the "gtpro editor" .... this one requires no changes (other than setting preferences) to be used with the gt8

there are some more apps that are currently being developed that may work on mac

If you're feeling brave you could also test-drive my GT8 editor which should also work on OSX with Java 5(although I've not tested this claim!).
sourceforge.net/projects/gt8ui

Thanks for the info,

The GT-Pro editor works fine when starting from scratch, only when I change the system settings with the editor the GT-8 crash. Factory reset is the only thing left to start again. In the editor I must save my patches as ".smf" export file. The normal "save" or "save as" doesn't work when I open these patches again and write them to the GT-8, probably because of the system settings.

The Jave editor ( sourceforge.net/projects/gt8ui) is not working, maby is my version of Java ( Osx 10.2.8) the problem.

Any more info on "not working"? Java is distinct from the OS so I can't tell which version you're using but it's presumably Java 5 (which should be plenty). I don't want to hijack this thread but if you've got some time it would be useful if you could provide more information (on the "alpha editor" thread in this category). Thanks (and sorry!).

I was just planning on uploading the newest Java for mac today and giving it a try tonight. The newest java for mac (version 2.1 or something) is comparable to version 5, but not named version 5 ....

I was wrong about this ... I was confused because it is called J2SE 5.

I posted in the above mentioned editor thread that I was having problems getting it to work properly ...
