View Full Version : Released a preview of the main interface (NON FUNCTIONAL)
I just released a preview of the main interface of the "GT-8 FX FloorBoard".
I would like to have feedback on the looks and what you expect it to do.
It compiles fine on linux/windows/macosx only a windows version is compiled for the moment.
THIS IS JUST THE INTERFACE IT DOES NOTHING!!! (For the moment)
For download see my sig.
can't wait to try it uco .... looks pretty cool. Will it be able to edit the custom settings?? Harmonizer scales??
Well, even if it doesn't I'll be happy to finally have a fully functioning patch editor for my mac.
Any estimates on how soon I can test a mac beta version??
The only thing with mac is that I don't have one, so the code for midi transfer will be functional when someone writes it. I can't cause it's platform specific. Not that hard, it are just 4 routines that talk to the midi interface on mac but need a mac to code against those specific libraries...
The rest will be functional.
I hope soon.
well, there was a guy named Wooddot that used to post around here .... I'll PM him and see if he can help.
I don't know anything about coding, but if I can help in any way let me know. I have a friend that's a wiz at programming (microsoft just flew him out to seattle to do a demo or something) so maybe he can help. I don't know if he knows anything about midi though.
also, if you don't mind I was thinking that i could post a plea to all mac users in the main gt8 forum .... there may be someone out there that can help.
Ok let you know when it's time :)

I would like to see each stompbox settings on a seperate window when you click on the stompbox so that you can truly adjust all the available settings for that stompbox.
I used to program but not anymore, not dince the days of the Atari ST, so I know what a pain it can be, best of luck with your project, hope it goes well and I can't wait to try the finished result!

Wow !!! if that's just the preview, then the finished project will be truely AWESUM. Graphics look great.
A wish list would be..
As above post, A detail panel for each effect to edit all the parameters.
Ability to edit system and custom settings.
DT1 data request each time the editor patch changes (to update the editor program parameter settings to match the GT8 in real time) or recieving midi bulk dump from the GT8.
Real time effect parameter changes for live auditioning of patches.
Able to save or load bulk dumps and/or single patches, and save custom & system settings.
Some type of librarian function would be cool too, to re-arrange location/copy/paste of patches.
Use of custom templates for designing new effects where you might start off with some of your favourite generic settings.
The ability to post or download patches directly to a web site for sharing.
I'm working on it but as my (ex-)girlfriend has had a severe car accident last week I don't have much time to work on it maybe less than a hour a day but things are in progress...
At the moment I'm working on the read and write part of sysx files and making the main interface functional. After I planned to make the send and receive working (windows only for the moment) and start of with the eq (graphical gui) and from there on to the rest. Liberian and bulk dump will be done as last options....
Ps I: was thinking to include the INIT patches as default by mean of a pulldown menu and add an fx description in a detailled edit/view as in the boss manual and last but not least a wizzard for the assign function that takes you through step by step...
I was also thinking of a online patch liberian with upload/download and rating function from the gui...
And started to implement the future options to make translation of the program possible, but I didn't quite figure out how to do this as for the fx name and option the GT-8 only speaks inglish.
Ps II: For thos that wonder why the .exe is that large... It's bacause it uses it owns libs and almost none windows (because it's based on the platform independent framework QT)
sounds good uco ... it looks like I will be getting my hands on a PC ... so I'm more than happy to do some beta testing for that platform :D :D :D
