View Full Version : T-Scream vs. a real TS9 / 808 Ibanez. Anyone compare?

I was thinking of using a TS9 to hit my tube head harder, but read in another post that they thought the Boss' version T-Scream sounded just as good. Anyone do a shootout? It certainly would be less complicated if the Boss T-Scream can hang just as well.

Dosen't look like it....
however....from memory I would say the Tube Screamer in the GT8 does a good job of emulating the originals

Yeah, a bit off topic, but the day I started using the TS in my Pro is the day I really started to put the Pro to work....I don't know how good the emulation is since I've never used a real TS, but the TS in the Pro is a vital part of my tone.
I've had 2 different Tube Screamers, the original TS-808 and a reissue. The Tube Screamer in the GT-8 blows both of them away in every way, esp. versatility wise. I don't miss the original at all.
The TS in the GT-8 actually behaves like a TS-9 that has been "modded" to perform like the original (chip) but with much more control over the tone and power.
Actually though, the "Blues OD" in the GT (modeled after the Boss BD-2) performs equally as well and retains the natural sound of your guitar even a bit better that the T-scream. I'm comfortable using either.
