Greetings, fellow Marshallers,

I am beginning to freak out. I've been screwing around for weeks with the settings on my JCM 2000 TSL100 (head + 1960AV cab) and the GT-6 and I still can't get a decent sound out of it. I'm not sure if it's the GT-6 or the amp but almost everything comes out really buzzy. And I don't mean unnaturally buzzy - it's not the tubes or anything. It's like the sound is really sharp and thin, ear-bleeding-like when it's supposed to be smoother and fatter. I've tried cutting the highs, it fixes the problem somewhat but then it makes the sound dull.

I'm playing an Epiphone Les Paul standard (with stock pickups), in 4 cable mode. I don't use the VPR function on the amp and I've been doing this by having the cab's speakers pointing at my face, since that's what the mic will pick up at gigs.

Now then, I have a request. Would those of you who own the same piece of equipment (or a Marshall JCM 2000 DSL or JCM 900 or even 800, but I know that's way different) please post your settings (on your amp's EQ and the GT-6 settings, if you are using the EQ, sub EQ or anything else that alter's the tone) so I can at least compare the results. Maybe I am just being too hard on myself and the amp sounds great?

Thanks,
Jani

[ DSL 2000 100W SETTINGS ]

Presence: 5.5
Treble: 5.5
Middle: 0-3
Bass: 9
Gain: 8-10, Clean channel 6
Deep SW: ON
Tone Shift: OFF

Go straight into the amp without any effects between. especially kick gt-6 into the carbage bin.
I need to change my amp's tubes because it takes about an hour of playing before the sound warms up. Marshall jcm dsl 2000 100w is the best amp if you ask me.

I run my gt-6 in 4cm with a tsl100 and 1960a. To solve your problem, first get your amp to sound good by itself, then add in gt-6 after that. Also, turn the amp up! it needs to be at least on 3 to sound great. take VPR off, and dont have treble and presence over 5. if one is over 5, the other must be below 3 to even things out.

On your gt-6, set the output to stack input if youre goin straight in, or stack return with 4cm.

My settings for TSL100 are on lead channel
gain 6
bass 7
mid 8
treble 5
pres 3
tone out
deep out
vol as high as i can go
vpr off

crunch : i have no idea
clean: not sure, am not totally happy with settings yet
